چکیده

We present a computational module for interactively visualizing, large-scale, 3D un-structured meshes. Scientists and engineers routinely solve large-scale computational boundary value problems on unstructured grids. These grids typically range from several hundred thousand elements to millions of elements. With this ability to solve such large-scale problems comes the challenge of viewing the 3D nite element model geometry on a 2D screen. When the mesh is non-uniform, the researcher's ability to grasp the complex spatial relationships of the elements often fails. The visualization module we have developed for viewing large-scale 3D unstructured nite element meshes includes two novel real-time interactive methods: a clipping \surface" utility and a growth algorithm. Used separately or together, these new utilities allow the user to better explore complicated unstructured polygonal domains.

Pressure-Velocity Coupled Finite Volume Solution of Steady Incompressible Invscid Flow Using Artificial Compressibility Technique

Application of the computer simulation for solving the incompressible flow problems motivates developing efficient and accurate numerical models. The set of Inviscid Incompressible Euler equations can be applied for wide range of engineering applications. For the steady state problems, the equation of continuity can be simultaneously solved with the equations of motion in a coupled manner using...

MeshView: A Tool for Exploring 3D Unstructured Tetrahedral Meshes

We have developed a visualization module, MeshView, for viewing large-scale 3D un-structured tetrahedral nite element meshes. The module includes two diierent approaches for visualization and analysis, plus the capability to edit meshes after the researcher has analyzed the mesh and located problem areas. The rst approach ooers various real-time interactive manipulation options for visualizing ...

Novel Algorithms for Modeling Sedimentation and Compaction using 3D Unstructured Meshes

In this paper, we discuss some novel techniques for modeling sedimentation and compaction using fully unstructured meshes. The numerical modeling of the sedimentation process is a critical part of basin simulation and synthetic stratigraphy modeling. Normally, structured curvilinear meshes are used to represent sedimentary sequences to be deposited during the simulation. Using this approach, 2D...

Pre-integrated Flow Illustration for Tetrahedral Meshes

Previous work has demonstrated the clarity and usefulness of illustrative techniques for visualizing flow data. However, previous systems were limited to applying these techniques to uniform grids. Since unstructured grids have emerged as a common basis for computing flow simulations, we present a method to apply and extend the flow illustration approach to tetrahedral meshes using pre-integrat...
